Launching Athena in 2005, we produced and progressed one of ITV’s best selling international series and Animal Planet’s then highest rating show - Monkey Business. Since then we have won a raft of specialised and innovative commissions. Our various series have now been sold to over 150 countries. We have won 4 RTS Awards and been nominated for several more.

Debbie Deeney

With 17 years experience, Debbie has overseen a large portfolio of broadcast genres and delivered shows to major broadcasters in the UK and US. She has also managed several digital projects for major brands.



Head of Development

Rebecca Gilhooly

Specialising in documentaries and character-driven series, Rebecca has produced, directed and developed programmes for all the major broadcasters. Her credits include originating and producing/directing 6 series of Fat Doctor for Discovery and the RTS award winning Britain's Fattest Man for Channel 4.



Development Producer

Jude Coventry

With 20 years experience in television production for all major channels, Jude has specialised in producing factual entertainment including major BBC series Changing Rooms and Animal Planet’s Animal Cops. With a keen eye on programming trends, developing new ideas is her strength.

Jamie Barratt (ACMA)

Following his career as Head of Production & Programme Finance at ITV Meridian, Jamie joined the indie sector in 2006 working for some of Europe’s biggest independent media companies.

QUEEN guitarist Brian May and naturalist Steve Backshall team up to save Britain’s hedgehogs. He may be a rock god, but Queen guitarist Brian May is also an animal campaigner of note. Already famous for fighting against fox hunting and the government’s badger cull, last year Brian set up a hedgehog charity, Amazing Grace, in Windlesham, Surrey.

Bournemouth filmmakers work with partners of Texas death row inmates

TWO Bournemouth filmmakers have witnessed the grim reality of a death row execution. Claudia Riccio and Natalie Wilkinson spent more than a year working on the Death Row Dates programmes that follow British women who are romantically involved with condemned inmates in the USA.
